Then why not come along and learn more about the modern fire service and enjoy colleagues company over a buffet lunch for a chance to reminisce, swap stories and catch up with old friends and colleagues?

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service Mess Club, in conjunction with the National Association of Retired Firefighters (East Sussex) and the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, would like to invite you and your partner to a second gathering of retired employees to be held from 1000hrs to 1500hrs on Thursday 10th July 2008 at our newly developed training centre, Batts Bridge Road, Maresfield.

The event is offered to anyone who has retired from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, East Sussex Fire Brigade or any of the local derivatives prior to amalgamation in 1974. It is intended to create the opportunity to reforge links with our former members and build on the network of support started in 2007, so please feel free to spread the word to any colleagues you are still in touch with.

We will provide a number of presentations on new firefighting and road traffic collision rescue techniques, show you some of the new equipment and appliances that are now in use and show you a modern residential sprinkler system that will hopefully give you an idea of what the firefighters of today are capable of achieving. We will of course be building on the success of last year and extending the opportunity to view the old photographs and memorabilia that Guy Bowes is continuing to collect.
