public register of notices 2008
1. Introduction.
The Environment and Safety Information Act 1988 requires the establishment of public registers of certain notices served concerning health, safety, environmental protection and related issues. As a result, East Sussex Fire Authority will maintain a public register of notices served. These notices are:
- Alterations Notices
- Enforcement Notices
- Prohibition Notices
The Fire & Rescue Service will maintain the register, which will contain information relating to any Notices issued by them. Each entry on the Register will state sufficient particulars to convey the substance of the Notice to which it relates.
Notices will be held in the register for a period of 3 years, or as long as they remain in force. Persons on whom notices are served have a right of appeal against an entry which they think may reveal an industrial secret. They are sent a draft copy of the Notice and have 14 days in which to lodge an appeal.
The Technical Fire Safety Department will ensure that the information held is current.
