East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service sign Skills Pledge with Sussex Downs College

On 4th April 2008 East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service demonstrated their commitment to supporting employees in developing their basic skills by signing a Skills Pledge with Sussex Downs College.

The Skills Pledge is a voluntary commitment by East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service to support all employees in developing their basic skills, including literacy and numeracy and work towards relevant and valuable qualifications to at least Level 2 of the national Qualification and Credit Framework standard (equivalent to 5 good GCSEs).

This is part of the Services drive towards a culture of Life Long Learning and is being supported by the FBU with it's Union Learning Fund initiatives and a partnership with Sussex Downs College, who will be conducting a skills audit on behalf of East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service.
