30 January 2009

Firefighters Mick Powell and Mick Janes, of Preston Circus community fire station's White Watch, are celebrating 30 year's of service at East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service! Both Micks joined the Service, then known as East Sussex Fire Brigade, on 29th January 1979.

Mick Powell began his role at Hove community fire station before transferring to Brighton's Preston Circus community fire station in 1981. Since then, Mick has remained part of the station's White Watch, having been based at Preston Circus for 28 years.

Mick Janes has also spent his entire career working at either Hove or Preston Circus community fire stations, but has experienced working on more than one watch. He is currently part of Preston Circus's White Watch alongside Mick Powell.

Richard Chamberlain, Watch Manager, White Watch, Preston Circus, said,

"Both are very dedicated firefighters who are passionate and proud of their jobs.

They are always professional and caring and still very much enjoy attending incidents and all other aspects of their roles."
