Chemical Spillage on Rye Harbour Road, Rye

An incident has occurred at Solvent Resource Management (SRM) on Rye Harbour Road, Rye.
A spillage of a flammable chemical has occurred and East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service personnel are working with specialist staff from SRM to contain the spillage and manage associated risk.
East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service are in the process of laying a blanket of foam over the spillage in order to contain any flammable vapours and to eliminate the risk of ignition.
A multi-agency team, including East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, the Police, the Environment Agency and the Local Authorities, are working together to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
Specialist contractors have been called to the site to assist SRM with the clean up operation.
The risk to the local community is minimal and local people are advised to stay inside and keep windows and doors closed.
