Bexhill Firefighter to Run Hastings Half Marathon in Support of The Fire Fighters Charity

11 March 2009

Jason Fleming

Bexhill based firefighter, Jason Fleming, will be running the Hastings Half Marathon for the sixth consecutive year this Sunday, 15th March 2009!

Jason, who is based at Bexhill community fire station, will be running the half marathon to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Every 30 seconds in the UK, firefighters are called to an incident, putting their lives on the line, often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The Fire Fighters Charity is there for firefighters during their times of need, and assists over 11,000 individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.

Jason said:

"Last year I ran the half marathon in 2 hours and 8 minutes so I'm hoping to raise the bar and beat that this year! So far, I've managed to raise £200 for The Fire Fighters Charity but I would love to give that amount a boost and raise as much as possible for injured firefighters."

If you would like to lend your support to Jason, and help him to reach his £300 target, you can do so by visiting his website at www.justgiving.com/helpingtheinjuredfireman

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service would like to wish Jason the best of luck!
