Coaching For a Safer Community Nominated for Beyond Sport Award

07 April 2009

Beyond Sport

Beyond Sport is a scheme that seeks to celebrate and support any individual or group, from the grassroots to the global, with the goal to drive positive change to people from all walks of life through sport.

East and West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service's Coaching for a Safer Community initiative has been nominated in the category of 'Best New Project' in the Beyond Sport Awards.

Beyond Sport is supported by a number of influential ambassadors and organisations including the International Olympic Committee, the National Basketball Association, former Prime Minister Tony Blair and Olympic gold medallist Donna de Varona to name but a few.

In order to qualify for the Awards, a project or initiative must use sport to drive significant social transformation. The nominations will be judged by an advisory panel of experts, who will then present a shortlist of three from each category to be presented to the Beyond Sport Judging Panel of Ambassadors for their final winning selection.

Nomination shortlists will be announced by Beyond Sport in early May.
