Top of the Board at Trauma Challenge
17 April 2009
Recently, the Service's trauma teams travelled to the West Midlands to compete in their Regional UKRO (United Kingdom Rescue Organisation) Trauma Challenge Event.
The event took place at West Midlands Fire & Rescue Service HQ in Smethwick with 20 other teams competing. The two East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service teams displayed their professionalism and dedication to the development of this area of Fire Service work.
Both teams achieved fantastic results in a very demanding and extremely well attended competition.
The scenarios consisted of a victim having suffered multiple stab wounds and a pedestrian struck by a moving vehicle.
Peter and Trevor scored 132 out of 150 and were placed joint 7th, while Keith and David scored an outstanding 148 putting them in 1st place!
Nigel Cusack, Station Manager for Uckfield, Heathfield and Mayfield, said: "This is an outstanding achievement and shows the commitment to development in the subject of first aid and trauma care. The teams left this event with renewed enthusiasm and a strong desire to demonstrate their abilities on the national stage in Glasgow this September."
