Red Cross

In addition to its international role, the Red Cross has a special role to play in supporting emergency services in the UK.

The Red Cross Appeal Week is a good time to learn more about the important work that is provided to the local community. It's also an opportunity to take action to reduce the risk of preventable accidents and emergencies in homes across East Sussex and the City of Brighton & Hove.

One of the services provided by the Red Cross is the provision of emotional and practical support to the victims of fire and emergency incidents. East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service has enjoyed 11 years of working in partnership with the Red Cross Fire & Emergency Support Unit.

Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive, Des Prichard, commented, "East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service are exceptionally proud to have worked in partnership with the Red Cross Fire Victim Support Unit for over a decade. During this time, they have offered a consistently high level of care and support to a wide range of people within our communities that have suffered the devastating effects of fire. We are hugely appreciative of their outstanding and selfless contribution to the ongoing work of East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service."

So, while you're thinking about the work of the Red Cross, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service recommends that you take some time to ensure your home is safe from fire and that you:
