On 30th April, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service hosted the British Fire Service Cup Final for the first time at Eastbourne Borough Football Club. The final saw Strathclyde and Cleveland compete for the honour of best Fire Service football team in the country!

Strathclyde started as favourites and soon dominated the first half taking a deserving lead. Cleveland received a couple of chances to fight back but could not find the finishing touch before Strathclyde extended their lead.

In the second half, Strathclyde played a brilliant game. Cleveland played well but could not break down a strong Strathclyde team who finished triumphant as 2-0 winners.

After the match Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive, Des Prichard, presented the cup and trophies to the teams and officials.

Dave Amiet, Coaching for a Safer Community Project Manager, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, said: "I would like to offer my thanks to Des Prichard and Eastbourne Borough FC for their hospitality. I would especially like to thank the Service's Andy Smith, Adam Henstock, Ian Smith and Steve Doidge for their hard work and support without which the event would not have been able to go ahead.

The support of everyone that attended made the event a great success."
