Child Safety Open Day at Lewes Community Fire Station

22 June 2009

A Child Safety Open Day will be held at Lewes community fire station on Thursday 25th June in support of Child Safety Week.

The event will run from 12:30pm-2:30pm.

In partnership with the Lewes District Children's Centre and a number of other agencies, the event aims to increase awareness of safety issues such as keeping candles, lighters and matches out of children's reach, setting clear kitchen rules for children, fitting and maintaining smoke alarms and ensuring that child safety seats are fitted correctly in cars.

Garry Collins, Lewes District Commander, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, said: "This event is an excellent example of how we and other agencies are working in partnership to deliver a safer community for all. We look forward to meeting local residents on the day."
