Fire Crews get ‘on their bikes’ for the London to Brighton cycle ride...
A team of fifteen riders from East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service will be taking part in the London to Brighton cycle ride on Sunday 17th June 2007. The team is made up of firefighters and includes the Vice Chairman of the Fire Authority, Ted Kemble, Councillor for Wish Ward in the City of Brighton & Hove, along with the Chief Fire Officer & Chief Executive, Des Prichard. The team are called the Fireflies and are raising money for the British Heart Foundation as well as the National Fire Services Benevolent Fund and the Children's Fire & Burn Trust.
The London to Brighton cycle ride is organised by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and regularly attracts in excess of 27,000 riders. Since it started 27 years ago, the event has raised more than £35 million for the British Heart Foundation and has attracted around 700,000 riders. The biggest bike ride in Europe kicks off at 8.00am from Clapham Common and ends, 54 miles later, at Brighton seafront.
