Caretaker/Fireground Technician,
37 hours a week,
based at Service Training Centre - Maresfield.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (ESFRS) for a Caretaker/Fireground Technician. To provide an efficient and effective service ensuring that cleanliness, maintenance, portering, site security, health & safety and general duties are carried out to the required standard at Service Training Centre.

The scope of this role requires the Caretaker/Fireground Technician:

• Assisting with and ensuring an adequate standard of cleanliness and order for all users of the site.
• Undertaking minor repairs, changing light bulbs and fittings.
• Carrying out routine tasks relating to the fire alarm systems and fire-fighting equipment.
• Undertaking building security and service operation.
• Providing a client based service with regard to meetings, functions and training sessions held at Service Training Centre.
• Ensuring that all fire, health & safety regulations and general emergency procedures are observed.
• Carrying out various general duties such as car parking and reception duties.

The successful candidate will be required to GCSE Level or equivalent in Maths and English, have a practical knowledge of building maintenance and previous experience of working in an environment where high standards of cleanliness, safety, security and order are required.

Applicants must have good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads with minimum supervision, possess the ability to communicate effectively with a customer service approach. Essential for the role is full mobility and the ability to lift and move heavy objects frequently in accordance with manual handling regulations.
