Systems Analyst

An exciting opportunity has arisen within East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service’s Information Management Department. The post holder’s role will be to design appropriate data management solutions that will be compatible with existing and planned information systems and infrastructure. The post holder will be responsible for building logical models based on functional requirements and translating those models into technical specifications and database structure proposals. The post holder will provide assistance to both systems developers and internal customers during the development stages of new systems or the modification of existing systems for new requirements.

Technological advances are critical to East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service performance. It will be required that the Role of Systems Analyst includes the necessary research and investigation of technology changes and of other events that impact supported systems, in order to maintain effectiveness. The Systems Analyst will take part in the construction of systems test plans. A customer service oriented ethos must be demonstrated, as this role will involve working closely with internal and external customers and developers.

The successful applicant will have a sound experience in designing and implementing application system solutions. They will hold a graduate qualification (or professional equivalent) in an appropriate discipline, or sound IT systems analysis experience. Experience of translating business processes using Business Process Modelling Notation and Unified Modelling Language (UML 2.0) together with experience of relational databases and application design is essential. Familiarity with the software development life cycle, XML modelling of datasets, and formal development methodologies in change control environments is also required.
