FiReControl project schedule

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service's cutover date has moved from December 2011 to September 2012.

Good progress is being made on the building of the nine regional centres and the setting up of the local authority controlled companies that will manage the centres. The delivery and installation of equipment in local fire stations is also on track. However, in recent months it has become clear that technical problems with developing the IT system in a way which will meet all CLG and Fire & Rescue Service requirements mean that further time is needed to complete the project.

FiReControl is an important project for all Fire & Rescue Services that support the Critical National Infrastructure, with a new mobilising and communications system that is more resilient and provides a greater degree of functionality and inter-operability. FiReControl offers significant advantages over our current systems in terms of resilience and call-taking arrangements.

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service will continue working to ensure that the communities of East Sussex and the City of Brighton & Hove are safe and have the best systems available to them. The project team will be assessing the effect of the delay on East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service's operational systems.
