Fire on London Road Bexhill

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called at 8.41am on 30 April 2024 to reports of smoke coming from a building in Bexhill.

As of 9.10am four fire engines are at the commercial premises on London Road.

The fire is in a kitchen of a vacant takeaway and firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus while putting out the fire.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area.

If you live nearby, please keep doors and windows closed as there is a lot of smoke in the area.

There are no reports of injuries.

As of 09.54am the incident the incident is being scaled down to 2 fire engines. Further updates will be provided in due course.

UPDATE

The fire is out. As of 10.40am the incident continues to be scaled down. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Sussex Police request members of the public continue to stay away from scene until further notice. The road currently remains closed.
