A special request about Lewes bonfire night
A number of bonfire societies have already announced they are not planning to hold their usual celebrations this year at Lewes bonfire (5 November). The evening is considered as an event for locals and there will be less to see this year so we are joining other organisations in asking you not to attend from outside the area.
In previous years it has been overcrowded and uncomfortable, with very few public facilities available.
- South East Coast Ambulance Service and St John Ambulance treat dozens of people every year.
- There is also no guarantee that you will be able to get to and from the town as there could be road closures in place or changes to train services.
- Sussex Police make a number of arrests.
We've listed some of the events which took place in 2019.
Please check the details carefully to see if they are taking place this year and note that we aren't responsible for the content of these websites. If you want us to add an event please email email@example.com with details.
