VIPs welcomed to East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service have been showing off their Service Training Centre to the High Sheriff of East Sussex and the Mayor of Brighton and Hove City Council.
The visit to the Maresfield site on 29 August 2017 gave the guests an opportunity to see first hand how the Service trains its new recruits and keeps the skills of firefighters and fire officers up to date.
There was a “live fire” demonstration which showed how firefighters are taught to better understand the way fires behave in real life incidents, and an introduction to the latest Breathing Apparatus sets that are being introduced across the Service in the coming months.
The visitors were also shown how Incident Command training was using the latest technology, including Virtual Reality, to help see how staff react when in control of an incident.
The event was hosted by Chairman of the Fire Authority, Cllr John Barnes and Chief Fire Officer Dawn Whittaker. High Sheriff of East Sussex, Maureen Chowen and her consort Michael Chowen were joined by Mayor of Brighton and Hove City Council Cllr Mo Marsh and her consort Robert Brown.
