At 16:20 yesterday, firefighters from Lewes, Brighton, Newhaven, Roedean, Uckfield, Hove together with firefighters from West Sussex attended a fire in a historic building and residence on Southover High Street, Lewes. The fire was in the roof space of a building of two stories. Crews used six Breathing Apparatus, one Main Jet, three Hose Reel Jets and an Aerial Ladder Platform to tackle the blaze. Due to the large volume of appliances on scene, Southover High Street was closed. The fire was extinguished and the scene was made safe at 22:43. Firefighters then left the scene.
A Fire Investigation is due to take place this morning.
