On 21st December, crews, community volunteers and other support from across the service carried out a charity collection in and around Preston Circus Fire Station, Brighton. This year £11,859 was collected. £5,000 of this total will be donated to the Whoopsadaisy charity and the remainder to the Fire Fighters Charity.
Whoopsadaisy is a Sussex charity for children with cerebral palsy and other motor conditions, dedicated to helping them to reach their full potential. Based in Preston Park, the charity supports babies and children in Brighton & Hove and across Sussex.
The Fire Fighters Charity provides services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired fire fighters, fire personnel and their families through a range of support programmes including physical rehabilitation, psychological support, recuperation and a confidential helpline which provides impartial advice, guidance and support on a wide range of concerns.
Fantastic and generous support
Tom Walby, Station Manager for Preston Circus said: “The huge amount was due to the enthusiastic turnout from on and off duty crews, support staff and community volunteers. We would also like to give a huge thank you to the fantastic and generous support of the local and visiting community of Brighton and Hove. I would like to thank all ESFRS crews, staff and volunteers who assisted with the collection and a big thank you to all those who donated.“
