Hailsham Community Fire Station is getting ready for an exciting Open Day for all the family.
Crews will be on hand on Saturday 12 October between 10am and 1400 to provide fun on station including demonstrations by firefighters, as well as life-saving advice for residents.
Station Manager Sean Wright said: “There will be a range of activities and fire safety information available, we would welcome all local residents to come and meet their local firefighters. Anyone interested in becoming an On-Call firefighter at Hailsham will also be able to get all the information they need.”
On-Call firefighters are ordinary people that combine their day jobs with being On-Call for Fire and Rescue situations and emergencies. When the call comes in, they drop what they are doing and become part of the East Sussex Fire and Rescue team.
It's a huge commitment, but an immensely rewarding way to serve the community, keep the public safe and earn an extra income.
