Incident Round-Up 15 October

Car Puddle Flooding

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were called to overnight flooding incidents, which followed a warning by The Met Office of thunderstorms affecting East Sussex.  

  • At 18:19 yesterday (14 October) Hastings firefighters were sent to Priory Road, in Hastings, where they assisted with flooding. 
  • At 21.19 yesterday (14 October) Hailsham firefighters were sent to a property in The Dicker, Lower Dicker, after electrics were affected by flooding. The crew used a submersible pump to clear the water. 
  • At 22.05 yesterday (14 October) Hastings were sent to Denham Close, St Leonards, after electrics were being affected in a property by flooding. The crew isolated the electrics.
  • At 17:49 yesterday (14 October) firefighters were sent to a property in The Drove, Newhaven, after electrics were affected by flooding. The crew isolated the electrics and made the property safe.

Being Prepared

When bad weather hits, it is often too late to prevent damage and so the best way to deal with potential floods is to be prepared. Floods can happen quickly so don't wait until it is too late to think about preparation.

Other overnight call-outs 

  • At 17:11 yesterday (14 October) firefighters were sent to a false alarm at a property in Eridge Road, Crowborough. 
  • At 17:23 yesterday (14 October) firefighters assisted after a person was locked in their flat at a property in Eastern Road, Brighton. 
  • At 18.18 yesterday (14 October) Eastbourne crews were sent to a false alarm at a property in The Hydneye, Eastbourne. 
  • At 18.57 yesterday (14 October) two appliances were sent to a false alarm at a property in Castle Street,Brighton. 
  • At 19:23 yesterday (14 October) Newhaven firefighters were sent to Bridge Street, Newhaven, following reports of a dangerous scaffolding. The crew mad the area safe. 
  • At 19:51 yesterday (14 October) Brighton firefighters were sent to a false alarm, caused by overheated foo, at a property in Hollingdean Road, Brighton. 
  •  At 22:29 yesterday (14 October) Eastbourne firefighters were sent to a false alarm at a property in Ashford Road, Eastbourne. 
  • At 23:24 yesterday (14 October) three appliances were sent to a fire reported at a property in Hughenden Road, Hastings. Firefighters entered the building, wearing breathing apparatus, and tackled the incident with carbon dioxide. One resident was treated by firefighters, after breathing in smoke, and left in the care of paramedics. 
  • At 00:22 this morning (15 October) Bexhill firefighters were called to a false alarm at a property in Glovers End, Bexhill. 
  • At 01:41 this morning (15 October) Brighton firefighters were sent to a false alarm, caused by overheated food, at a property in Hollingdean Road, Brighton.
  • At 02:22 this morning (15 October) an appliance was sent to a false alarm at a property in Brampton Road, Eastbourne. 
  • At 02:45 this morning (15 October) Brighton firefighters were sent to Bartholomew Square, in Brighton, following reports of a vehicle leaking fuel, involving two motorcycles leaking fuel following being knocked over. The crew used an environmental pack and the area was made safe.
