Incident round-up 17 February 2020

Storm Dennis resulted in a variety of overnight call-outs for East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, alongside other incidents: 

  • At 9.46 yesterday (16 February) a crew were sent to a property in First Avenue, Hove, where they isolated the electrics following a water leak.
  • At 10.56 yesterday (16 February) a crew were sent to Chruch Street, in Eatsbourne, where they made a structure safe. 
  •  At 10.59 yesterday (16 February) a crew were sent to a small vehicle fire in Sutherland Road, Brighton, involving one campervan and two cylinders. The cyclinders were removed and firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus used one hose reel and one main jet to deal with the fire. 
  •  At 11.40 yesterday (16 February) a crew were sent to Western Road, in Crowborough, where they made safe a road bollard, where the electrics were being affected by water. Crews covered and identified the bollard to enable highways to carry out the repairs. 
  • At 12.02 yesterday (16 February) two appliances were sent to Donald Hall Road, in Brighton, where they rescued one person shut in a lift. A Home Safety Visit was carried out at the property. 
  •  At 12.07 yesterday (16 February) a crew were called to flooding at a property in Keld Drive, Uckfield, which damaged the roof. Crews covered the roof and isolated the electrics. 
  • At 13.19 yesterday (16 February) two appliances were sent to the A22 Boship Roundabout, in Lower Dicker, following reports of a road traffic collision. Firefighters made the vehicle safe. 
  • At 13.25 yesterday (16 February) two appliances were sent to a lift rescue in Spencer Road, Easbourne, where firefighters rescued two people. 
  • At 13.47 yesterday (16 February) a crew were sent to assist with flooding of a property in Regency Square, Brighton, where electrics were isolated and salvage work carried out. 
  • At 14:18 yesterday (16 February) firefighters attended an incident in Rye road, Rye, following reports of flooding of a building. They isolated the water supply and removed water from the property, as well as making the house safe. 
  • At 14.49 yesterday (16 February) a crew attended a property in Windlesham Road, Brighton, where the electrics were isolated and advice given. 
  • At 15.12 yesterday (16 February) a crew were sent to a chimney fire in Meadow Place, Uckfield.
  • At 20.02 yesterday (16 February) firefighters were mobilised to a property in Beacon Road, Crowborough, following reports of a building being flooded with 18 inches of rain water. A submersible pump was used to clear the water from the building and a Home Safety Visit was due to be carried out today. 
  • At 20.40 yesterday (16 February) three appliances were sent to an industrial dryer on fire at a building in Eatenden Lane, Mountfield. Firefighters isolated the dryer and carried out an investigation after the dryer had cooled. The incident was left with the site manager. 
  • At 21.50 yesterday (16 February) three appliances were sent to Fullwood Avenue, Newhaven, after a fire at a property in Fullwood Avenue, Newhaven, was reported. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire with two hose reels.
