Mount Everest challenge for Battle Rope Rescue team

Date : 04 December 2020

This Saturday (5 December 2020), Battle Fire Station Rope Rescue Team are aiming to scale the height of Mount Everest.

They are holding a fundraising event for one of their East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service colleagues at Bohemia Road Community Fire Station.

Firefighter Paul Balch was this year diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. The Rope Rescue Team is looking to raise funds towards Paul’s ongoing treatment and to support his family.

The event 'Climbing Everest for Balchy' will see the team attempt to both climb and then abseil back down, the height of Mount Everest, (8,848m), on The Drill Tower at Battle Fire Station.

Due to Covid19 restrictions people will be unable to visit the Station to watch the team in the Station training yard but collection buckets will be placed by the front bays at Battle Fire Station or people can donate via our Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/climb-everest-for-balchy?utm_term=PKY6xqJgA
