East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is warning people to take extra care when using candles after a fire in Eastbourne.
On 27 February 2021, the service received a call at 19.40 and sent three fire engines to a flat on Seaside.
There was a fire in a bathroom. We used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.
Everyone was accounted for and there are no reports of any injuries.
The fire was investigated and the cause was linked to candles.
We’d like to remind people to use proper candle holders, never leave them unattended and always ensure they are properly put out.
