Crew from The Ridge Fire Station were called to an incident today at 18:50 where the smoke from some flea bombs activated a smoke alarm.
Group Manager Katie Cornhill said “it is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using flea bombs as, in this case, the smoke they generate can cause smoke alarms to be activated.
Fire crews attended to what turned out to be a false alarm when they might have been needed at a more serious situation.”
To avoid this happening cover smoke alarms for the time of treatment. Remember to uncover them after the treatment is finished.
