East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has a few spaces left for its Fire Cadets which starts up again in September.

It’s open to everyone aged between 13 and 17. During your time on the programme, you’ll make new friends, have loads of fun and learn all about what it means to be a firefighter and make a positive impact on your community.

Eastbourne Cadet unit is full at present, but we have a couple of places for new Cadets at the Crowborough unit.

We also operate a waiting list if we are unable to offer a place immediately.

To request a place /join the waiting list please email  fire.cadets@esfrs.org

Crowborough  Fire Cadets end of year presentation

Crowborough Fire Cadets started in February 2020 and after only 4 meetings, Cadets and Leaders had to face the challenge of the transition to virtual meetings. In April this year we returned to outside meetings at Crowborough Community centre, and the Cadets have all made amazing progress in such a short time.

An end of year presentation took place at Bowles Outdoor Centre in July, and started with a parade drill demonstration and each Cadet described personal gains from joining the unit.

Certificates were kindly presented to all Cadets by Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Mark O’Brien and Vice-Chair of the Fire Authority, Cllr Carolyn Lambert.

One of the parents said: ‘It was just really wonderful to be there, to see you all, be part of such an important day and to see how the cadets have excelled in so many ways. They are a huge credit to the fire service family that they belong to and should be so proud in all they have achieved especially through such a challenging time of the past year and a half.’
