East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has re-opened its doors for face to face outdoor fire safety training.

Members of the public are now taking part in practical fire extinguisher training in groups of strictly not more than 5 delegates at a time providing a Covid-safe environment.

The events have all been very positive and some great feedback was received about both the practical and the webinar that all delegates had attended online in advance.

Commercial Training Manager Raj Baksi said:

“It’s been really interesting to see in customer feedback and comments how many people have enjoyed the webinar, many have expressed more so than traditional classroom training.

Working with the public face-to-face, suitably distanced and with Covid safety measures has gone smoothly, everyone was very compliant and I think they were grateful for the opportunity to receive the training.”

Training

The service is encouraging businesses to consider training as part of the National Fire Chiefs Council’s Business Safety Week (6-12 September 2021).

It offers a number of fire training courses for the business community which aim to improve awareness and encourage delegates to give greater consideration to fire safety at their place of work.

All courses involve theoretical input (usually delivered online) combined with realistic practical training activities. Our experienced instructors actively encourage delegate participation, presenting all attendees with the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a safe training environment.

Training sessions can be delivered at our purpose-built Training Centre in Maresfield close to the town of Uckfield, or at the customers' own premises. Our Training Centre's facilities include comfortable modern teaching rooms and purpose-built practical training facilities, which include real live fires for effective and engaging training activities.
