East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service Fire Cadets, Volunteers, Uckfield Fire Crews and Senior Officers came together on the morning of Saturday 5th March to carry out a car wash for the Fire Fighters Charity.

During the event, in excess of 50 cars were washed for a voluntary donation and left the Fire Station sparkling.  The event, through the generous support of residents of Uckfield and the surrounding area raised £1094 for this important charity.

Charity fundraiser Dick Broady stated “This was a fantastic event and raised much needed funds for a charity that does so much to support the UK firefighters and their families.”

The Fire Fighters Charity

The Fire Fighters Charity is the leading support service for the fire service community in the UK.  No other organisation provides such a full package of high quality support, exactly tailored to the needs of fire fighters, support staff and their dependants.  The Fire Fighters Charity is here for every one of the UK’s 65,000 serving members of fire and rescue staff – and their dependants. Every year we directly help more than 4,500 people in the fire community to be fitter, healthier and happier.

There are three centres in Devon, Cumbria and West Sussex, which offer a range of support programmes including physical and emotional rehabilitation to members of the fire and rescue community in times of need.

The charity also gives lifetime support to retired fire fighters and their dependants.  It costs £10 million a year to keep The Fire Fighters Charity running and with no government funding we are completely reliant on the generosity and enthusiasm of our supporters.
