Organised by our Gender Inclusion Network, "It Starts With You 2020" took place in October and had a very different approach to our previous events!
Normally we are able to bring together colleagues from fire and rescues services and other organisations for a day of workshops and inspiring talks.
This year, due to Covid-19 we went online, with 44 delegates from across the country able to join us.
Our focus was on sport, well-being and how we can help remove barriers. Following a welcome from our Chief Fire Officer Dawn Whittaker, we heard from Karen Dobres Co-director of Lewes FC Women and Rhian Cleverly Captain of Lewes FC Women – the only football club in the world where women and men are treated and paid equally. Read the presentation.
We were then joined by Rory Finn, a co-founder of Trans Can Sport which dedicated to transforming the wellbeing of trans people through physical activity. Read the presentation.
We ended with a Wellbeing session with two members of our Wellbeing team - Billy Stanton and Anna Barnes. Read the presentation.
Read our Wellbeing Ideas Toolkit which we compiled following the session by Anna and Billy.
