Protected Characteristic - Religion & Belief
Religion has the meaning usually given to it but belief includes religious and philosophical beliefs including lack of belief (e.g. Atheism). Generally, a belief should affect your life choices or the way you live for it to be included in the definition
We have quiet rooms at both Training Centre and Headquarters to provide staff with a private place for contemplation or for religious observance.
The Inter Faith Network for the United Kingdom has produced "Looking after one another - the safety and security of our faith communities", recognising that in times of tension faith communities may find themselves vulnerable in a number of ways. The Fire and Rescue Service has a role to play in these difficult times.
Religion, Belief and Culture in the Community Guide
Created working alongside other partners, the guide was published in November 2018 as part of Interfaith Week.
