East Sussex Fire and Rescue was contacted at 2.54pm today 20 September 2024 to reports of a fire at a home on Coronation Gardens in Battle.
As of 3.10pm four fire engines and three officers had been sent to the scene.
The fire is affecting the ground floor and first floor of the building.
There are no reports of injuries.
Please avoid the area while crews work.
UPDATE 3.30pm - Crews on scene have confirmed this is a fire affecting four flats (not a house as previously reported). One person has been treated for smoke inhalation.
Breathing apparatus and hose reel are being used to tackle the fire.
Three fire engines remain on scene.
UPDATE 4.15pm - One fire engine remains on scene.
The fire, which is now out, is thought to have started accidentally in a wheelie bin.
