East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service have been called to a fire in Lilybank Cresent, Battle.
Firefighters from Battle, Hastings Bohemia Road, Hastings The Ridge and Bexhill were called out at 12.18pm on 8 May.
The fire is believed to have started from a frying pan alight in the downstairs kitchen.
Crews are currently using breathing apparatus and a hosereel jet to tackle the fire.
Occupants have been evacuated.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and local residents to keep windows and doors closed.

UPDATE: As of 1.20pm the incident has been scaled down to 2 fire engines.
The property is now ventilated.
Police and the ambulance service are also in attendance.

UPDATE: As of 1.48pm the incident was scaled down to 1 fire engine.
At the height of the incident crews used 4 breathing apparatus and 1 hosereel jet to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters also used a Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fan for smoke clearance and a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots.
Final crews left the scene by 2.30pm.
The fire was accidental and crews have also completed a 'quick strike' providing targeted home safety advice to local residents.
