Fire Door Checks
From January 2023 it has been a legal requirement to undertake checks of fire doors in all blocks of flats over 11m.
This requires an annual check of flat front doors and a quarterly check of fire doors in communal areas.
These checks do not require specialist knowledge but we are aware that there are various companies offering to undertake checks for a range of prices.
The guidance issued by the Home Office makes clear that these checks can be undertaken by caretakers, property managers, housing officers and maintenance personnel.
We have produced a video which explains the purpose of the checks and gives an overview of how to undertake a check in line with the Government Guidance.
