We understand there’s often debate about what public services should or shouldn't post about or attend.
We want to make it clear about the sorts of things you can expect to see, as part of our work, to make our communities safer.
It’s all part of our commitment to keeping people safe and staying connected with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
What We Post, Share, Support…and Why
- Home safety and business safety information and campaigns. (There’s lots of information here on our website too!)
- Bank Holidays and school holidays where
- people may be out on roads they don't know
- swimming outdoors
- lighting campfires
- or having barbecues in their gardens
All areas where we want people to be informed on how to stay safe.
- Christmas, Hannukah, Eid, Diwali, Ramadan and any other religious festivals which can often involve candles, cooking, and fireworks — all of which can increase fire risk.
- And don’t forget bonfire night, Halloween and New Years Eve where we can be extra active around these times.
- Pride in Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings and anywhere else in our area where pedestrians will be mixing with moving vehicles or gathering near open water – we want everyone to keep safe.
- Major sporting events and Freshers’ Week can often bring an increase in alcohol-related incidents, and we want to help reduce the risks.
Recognising Our Staff
We are proud of the contributions of our staff and volunteers. That’s why we mark:
- International Women’s Day
- International Men’s Day
- Firefighters Memorial Day
- International Control Room Week
- 999 Emergency Services Day
- Volunteers’ Week and many more throughout the year!
We may well surprise you by mentioning something we haven't listed – but it will always be with the safety and support of the communities we serve in mind.
If you think we’ve missed something important to you that also relates to keeping people safe from fire, road or water related incidents then we’d love to hear from you!
