East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is pleased to confirm that Hannah Youldon has been appointed as its new Assistant Chief Fire Officer

Chief Fire Officer Mark Matthews said:

“After a very comprehensive and competitive process I am delighted to announce that Hannah Youldon has been successful in the recent Assistant Chief Fire Officer recruitment process. Hannah has a wealth of experience and knowledge of our Service and the Sector and will be an instrumental part of the team in delivering our services. I am sure everyone will join me in offering Hannah congratulations.”

Hannah’s career began in East Sussex in 2003 and she has been the temporary Assistant Chief Fire Officer since January 2025.

Hannah said:

“I feel both proud and privileged to be appointed to the role of ACFO in the Service. Having worked here for many years, I’ve seen firsthand the dedication of our teams and the impact we have in keeping our communities safer. It’s a privilege to work with such a committed and supportive group of colleagues and I am proud to serve the communities of East Sussex and the City of Brighton and Hove.”

The announcement comes after a rigorous national recruitment process, which began in February, and included a staff forum, stakeholder panel, a presentation, a command assessment and a full interview panel.
