London Skyscraper Zipwire Challenge!
Nick Oliver-Taylor, dad to an 8 year old boy and twin 6 year old girls. Nick's girls were born 5 weeks early, weighing 3lbs and 4lbs.
"My wife and I are very fortunate that our girls are healthy, they had great medical care and we were out of hospital after two months. I’m not doing this for my children, I am doing this for all the parents who are devastatingly not that lucky. "
Nick is taking on the London Landmarks Skyscraper Challenge to raise awareness and to support Tommy's continue their vital work saving babies' lives.
The challenge consists of running up 1100 steps (42 floors) of the Cheesegrater, one of London’s most iconic skyscrapers, then travel by zipwire across the City’s skyline straight into the iconic Gherkin!
A zipwire that starts after a gruelling 30 minute sprint up the 42 floors, then travelling further to the 51st floor of the building, then jumping out onto a zipwire some 230m high and 130m long straight into the 36th floor of the Gherkin building on St Mary’s Axe.
"I am looking for support and sponsorship to raise money for Tommy’s, an incredible charity. Tommy's fund research into miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth, and provide pregnancy health information to parents. They believe it is unacceptable that one in four women lose a baby during pregnancy and birth. They want every parent to have the best possible pregnancy outcomes. To give you an idea of the impact of your donation: £100 could fund a scientist, at one of our ground-breaking research centres, for a day. £1,000 could help fund Tommy's Net for 6 months, which is a database where we gather clinical trial results to identify risk factors and develop better care for parents. £3,000 could pay for 12 consultation sessions with our Stillbirth Research Centre in Manchester."
Thank you!
