Preston Circus refurbishment takes shape

Preston Circus is being transformed in a once in a generation investment.

The operational response crews have relocated to a temporary location within the City which enables them to provide the same high response standards we set within ESFRS. Planning Is already taking plan for the movement of these crews back into their home station at Preston Circus after the works are complete.

Work began in February 2024 with site setup and demolition operations. Focus is now on firefighter facilities including office spaces, rest pods, kitchen facilities and locker rooms.

During April, you would have started to see scaffolding being put up. Internally during April, the mechanical and electrical systems were isolated, and a hoist was installed to aid with the demolition of walls as preparation began on the new internal layouts.

By May, the demolition phase was completed. Progress was made on the new roof and on mechanical and electrical systems. The work on the rest pods began to take shape, creating an individual resting space for our firefighters.

In June, further work was undertaken on the second-floor rest spaces. Work also started on the kitchen area and locker rooms/showers. Further progress was made to the office spaces. Bricklayers were also on site in June to further the work on the new building layout.

Now that we are in July, flooring preparation is nearing completion. Ductwork and air conditioning instillation is ongoing. Painting work is also due to commence this month.

You can track progress on the Morgan Sindall website.

Please email enquiries@esfrs.org if you have any questions about this work.
