Virtual Event to Support On-Call Firefighter Applicants

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) is excited to announce a virtual event designed to assist potential applicants interested in becoming On-Call Firefighters. The event will be hosted via Microsoft Teams on 14th October 2024 and will offer attendees a comprehensive guide through the recruitment process, from eligibility requirements to initial training.

This online event aims to provide prospective On-Call Firefighters with a clear understanding of the steps involved in applying for this rewarding role. It will cover key topics such as:

  • Eligibility Criteria: Understand the requirements to apply, including living or working within five minutes of an On-Call fire station, fitness standards, and commitment levels.
  • The Application Process: Step-by-step guidance on how to apply, including tips for completing the online application form.
  • Selection Tests: Insight into the physical and written tests required as part of the selection process, including what applicants can expect and how to prepare.
  • Interviews: Information on what to expect during the interview stage, along with advice on how to showcase skills and passion for serving the community.
  • Training: A detailed overview of the training provided to On-Call Firefighters, ensuring that all new recruits are fully prepared for the diverse range of tasks they will face on the job.
