Railway Safety

A survey carried out on behalf of Network Rail and the British Transport Police (BTP), suggests there is a lack of knowledge about the dangers of the railways among young people.

It found that 15% of 13 to 18-year-olds believed it was safe to walk on the railway track if there were no trains coming. Only 37% deemed the railway to be extremely dangerous and more than half did not believe that sidings were dangerous.

Safety in Action events promote Railway Safety with the support of Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway.
